The geometry of formal gardens, their symmetry and pattern, provide inspiration for some current work. A bird‘s eye view or a vista is translated into an almost abstract design. I use a combination of drawing, paint and stitch in these works, some of them are 3D and some use vintage fabrics and trimmings.
I have worked in the field of textile art all my life, after graduating from Loughborough University with a degree in embroidery.
Constant experimentation keeps alive my enthusiasm for the endless possibilities of the medium. Sometimes I produce original garments, decorated with dyes and stitch : sometimes I work on community projects or with children as part of artist–in–schools projects.
